Dealing with Hormonal Change
(Perimenopause, menopause, post-menopause)
With approximately 3.5 million women of menopausal age (45-54) in employment research suggests that the impact of discrimination, bad practice, and general lack of awareness regarding menopause is forcing nearly 1 million of women out of the labour market due to menopausal symptoms, or due to the lack of workplace support.
Our programme of support enables women and others who experience menopause to gain a clearer insight into the symptoms, how these affect work and life, and discover lifestyle and practical workplace solutions, enabling women to manage their symptoms more effectively, cope better and still perform at their best.
Our support provides information, tips, techniques and advice that supports dealing with the ups and downs including diet, exercise, stress reduction and, importantly, self-help techniques.
Understanding Anxiety
Anxiety is the most common mental health disorder in the UK, with an estimated 822,000 workers affected by work-related stress, depression or anxiety every year (HSE).
In order to gain more clarity and understanding of anxiety, in this session, we look at what it is and why we may experience it. We look at identifying the triggers for feeling anxious, coping mechanisms and how it may affect our bodies physically, and emotionally.
Through exploring simple techniques we provide the opportunity to learn practical tools for managing and dealing with anxiety., alongside other supportive measures.
Resilience Building
The countless challenges we come up against in our day to day lives can result in us feeling stressed, overwhelmed and exhausted. It’s not necessarily what we encounter but how much and how we deal with it that matters.
In this session we discover what mental resilience is, explore the pillars of mental resilience and how this impacts on our inner resources.
Then, how to personally cultivate inner resilience through a range of mindfulness approaches and other practical techniques and tools.
Energy Balance
Understanding what energy is and how the state of our own personal energy system can affect how we function, interact and work on a daily basis, gives us a better foundation to comprehend the impact on our lives. Many factors exist that make it more difficult for our bodies to maintain the energetic balances that both preserve and nurture it. When your body's energy systems are out of balance, or not in harmony, your body does not function as effectively.
Within this interesting session we explore the body’s energetic pathways and teach simple techniques that can be employed to help balance your energies throughout the day, enabling enhanced work performance, preventative measures for burn-out, and help to feel refreshed.
Women’s Health
Whilst there is great emphasis at present on the menopause, we should not forget that there are other female orientated conditions that have just as big an impact on health and the ability to work effectively. These include Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) and Endometriosis, with PMS affecting up to three in ten women with an estimation of 25% having moderate or severe symptoms which impact on daily function and often severely hinders their ability to work. There is also emerging evidence that thoughts of self-harm/suicide are often present with severe PMS.
In the UK one in ten women and those assigned female at birth of reproductive age suffer from endometriosis and it is the second most common gynecological condition, costing the UK economy £8.2bn a year in treatment, loss of work and healthcare costs.
Whilst these are just two highlighted conditions there are others which can impact day-to-day normal functioning and we endeavor to cover these in women’s health, which incorporates aspects of diet, exercise, supplementation and many self-help techniques which can be employed to support these conditions.
The Gut, Brain, and Performance
How does this impact our productivity?
The communication between the gut and the brain is called the gut-brain axis. These are both connected physically and biochemically.
Discover how the microbes of the gut affect how your brain works and how nutrition plays a significant role in both gut, brain function and performance.
Also discover how gut microbes, affected by our diets, have a negative impact on our day-to-day functioning, hormones, emotional responses - fear and anxiety, immune system, inflammation response, our ability to deal with stress and ultimately, how we perform in all areas of our lives.
